Italy: “Noble Shot II” military exercise

More than 50 snipers and snipers from different units of the Esercito Italiano (EI), the Polizia di Stato (Italian National Police) and foreign armed forces from allied countries trained in precision shooting in mountainous environments , on the occasion of the international exercise Noble Shot II.

Organized by the “Taurinense” alpine brigade, at the Pian dell’Alpe training center, in the Susa valley (Piedmont), this exercise lasted a week and ended on May 4. On the Italian side, several units were represented, including two regiments of the “Taurinense”, the 3rd and 9th, the 1st grenadier regiment of the mechanized brigade “Granatieri di Sardegna”, the 152nd infantry regiment of the mechanized brigade “Sassari” and the 8th regiment of bersagliers of the “Garibaldi” brigade.

On the guest side, in addition to the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, featured prominently the 13th Alpine Hunter Battalion (BCA) of the 27th Mountain Infantry Brigade (BIM). Several activities were carried out during this week of training and development, on the Pian dell’Alpe shooting range, at an altitude of more than 2,000 m: day and night shooting sessions with sniper rifles different calibers up to a distance of 1,000 m, at positive and negative firing angles; practical use of various models of night sights and laser pointers.

Operational shooting exercises with pistols and assault rifles in the various units present. All these activities made it possible to check the level of skills and to refine the capacities of the participants to operate at high altitude and in low temperatures.
